Module 2 exercise

The exercise in Module 2 Section  2.9 was designed to help us understand the difference between a primary source and a secondary source and enable us to develop our skills in locating, identifying and using such a Source. It also would help us to learn how to reference a variety of such sources correctly within work we produced.  (completed exercise) 1

Not having undertaken any studying for a number of years and then not above school level, this was the first time I had come across the terms “secondary and primary source”, nor had I previously had to use any form of referencing with the academic documentation I had produced.

It was at this point I realised that this particular course would require me to locate and use various types of information obtained via the internet in most of the future tasks and then submit them correctly for not only the online tutorials but also the TMA’s & the ECA, thus it helped me to start to locate and correctly use the information available on the internet within all of the future exercises.

I am finding that locating such sources to help answer a question or gain further understanding is an extremely important study skill. It is not always an easy task and considerable effort has to be made to select a valid source. In order to develop this, I try, even when a task does not specifically request it, to locate both a primary and secondary source on the internet.
