The exercise in Module 3 Section 3.6 was designed to help us gain a better understanding of concepts such as “richness and reach” and the business and technology models involved. Therefore developing a better idea of what is required for an e-commerce business prior to attempting TMA04.
My attempt at this exercise can be found here.
We were required to use the site which we had chosen for the previous exercise and then attempt to pull together all the different concepts covered by the previous sections of this module and extend our knowledge of these concepts by expanding upon them slightly. To do this I had to explore the existing e-commerce business and produce an answer reflecting a set of four set criteria. To do this I had to start to think about the ways that a business has to make itself different for other businesses in this case e-commerce against high street. The different ways such an e-commerce business can try to produce an income, as well as some of the specific problems, such an e-commerce business encounter, in areas such as:
· Communication with customers
· Trust and security
· Delivery of Goods
· Maintaining Stock levels
· Advertising
In this particular case I found it very hard to find examples of additional features which could be used to enhance the site.
The concepts involved above may influence how I view the level of professionalism of an e-commerce site and ultimately how much I would then trust that site.
